Focus and scope

Foro Internacional is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Center for International Studies at El Colegio de México. Founded in 1960 by Daniel Cosío Villegas, the journal publishes academic work in the fields of international relations, comparative politics, Mexican politics, public administration, and political theory. Foro Internacional welcomes rigorous research employing diverse disciplinary and methodological approaches.

The journal is published quarterly, with issues appearing on the first day of January, April, July, and October. Each issue typically features articles on various topics. Occasionally, the journal publishes special or thematic issues.

Foro Internacional does not charge submission, processing, or publication fees. Starting in 2025, the journal follows a hybrid publication model, where accepted articles may be published online first before being assigned to a specific issue of the print edition.

The journal accepts article submissions in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Articles accepted through the peer-review process and originally written in English or Portuguese are translated into Spanish, which is the primary language of the journal. Starting in the first quarter of 2024, selected articles may also be published in a second language (either in English or Portuguese), in addition to Spanish, in the digital edition. Decisions in this regard are made by the Editorial Board, which may also approve the translation of certain articles originally written in Spanish for bilingual publication. For more information, please refer to the Guidelines for Authors.

Foro Internacional follows the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), employs a double-blind peer review process for all submitted manuscripts, maintains a research transparency policy, and upholds strict ethical standards in academic research and publishing.
